In most cases where jaw surgery is required to correct and realign the jaw, patients will have to wear orthodontic braces for 12 – 18 months beforehand. At Alban City Dental & Surgical Centre, our professional orthodontists will work with a maxillofacial surgeon to develop a treatment plan for each patient. Using X-rays, CT scans, computer-guided treatment, and digital imaging, we’ll be able to make this process as easy as possible for the patient.
Who carries out jaw surgery?
The surgery itself is carried out under general anaesthetic by a maxillofacial surgeon in a hospital. Braces are required before and after surgery to ensure success of the treatment and alignment of the teeth, followed by a clear removable retainers.
Is there any way to speed up jaw surgery treatment?
At Alban City Dental and Surgical Centre, we have the expertise to offer a surgery first approach to this treatment. Braces are added the same week as the surgery. This method can reduce overall treatment times by as much as two years.
Our team will be with you every step of your treatment journey. We’ll guide you through the process and offer advice.
