What is a filling?
Fillings are used to repair holes – otherwise known as cavities – in the teeth. These cavities usually develop as a result of tooth decay but can also be caused by injury to the face.
Why should I consider white fillings?
White fillings fulfil the same function as traditional amalgam fillings and offer patients a much more subtle, natural-looking, and aesthetically pleasing finish. Because they are not made using mercury, they also promise a more body-safe experience overall.
How would I know if I may need a filling?
If you’re experiencing increased sensitivity or pain when chewing or biting down, you might need a filling. If this is the case, then you should contact us as soon as possible. Our team will be able to relieve your pain and sensitivity, repair your tooth, and restore your happy smile.
What are white fillings made of?
White fillings are made of composite. This is a highly durable and versatile material that can be easily moulded into shape, allowing it to fit seamlessly in with the rest of the mouth.
How long does filling treatment take?
Most white fillings can be placed during just one appointment.
What happens during filling treatment?
We’ll first administer a local anaesthetic to keep you comfortable throughout treatment. We will then remove the decayed, damaged, and infected parts of the tooth in question and clean the area thoroughly. We’ll then apply a special gel which helps the composite material adhere to the natural tooth. And then, we’ll mould the material into the desired shape before curing the material so it successfully hardens into place.
